The VIN (vehicle identification number) is a serial number that is unique for each vehicle. It is used in order to identify individual motor vehicles. Post 1981, all VIN numbers use a standardized format of 17 characters, not including the letters I, O or Q to ensure that the characters aren't confused with the numerals 0 and 1. There are companies that use VIN numbers to identify the history of vehicles in order to aid potential car buyers.

The VIN number of a Toyota Camry can be found on the insurance card issued by your car insurance company, on your vehicle registration card, on the metal plate apparent on the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle and on the driver's door jamb on a fixed label.

If the VIN number of the Toyota Camry is already known then the vehicle can be checked online. This is done by accessing the website URL "www.toyotaownersonline.com" and creating an account. Once logged in, the VIN number of the vehicle can be input on the "manage vehicles" page and the website will return registered service history data, etc. From this page, any service performed on the car can also be registered to the VIN number.

Toyota VIN numbers can also be decoded manually. There are many websites that provide information on Toyota VIN numbers in order to allow identification of the numbers different meanings. The following URL gives an example:

There are other, third-party VIN identification websites that will decode the VIN number and specify the included information about the vehicle within the code. For example:

There is also one more place you can find the vin number, and that is on the engine. However, the easiest place to find it is where imc47130 has told you.

Goto www.toyotaownersonline.com and create an account. When you login go to "manage vehicle" or "service records" and you can type in a VIN and the website will tell you if the vin is good or not. You can also see if there's been any maintenance on your car through a toyota dealership only though. Good luck!!
