If the guy above was a car guy he would've said it could be a lot of different things. Your fuel pump might be dead, fuel injectors might be clogged up, if the spark plugs arent firing chances are it would still start it would just be miss firing on a cylinder or two unless they are all jacked up. A fuel to air mixture sensor might be damaged... You might want to have it looked at man...
I have a 318i too , it will start for 1 min , but will go dead by itself... What is the problem?
My car coil is working but no spark out of the coil to plugs pls suggest
check the spark plugs sounds as they might not be firing also check the leads as your problem may be there
Changed the engine in my e36 318i bm now at times it wont start still cranks and will go with a wee push wht could be up way it
You need 3 basics: fuel, fire and compression. If you can't check any of the above, I suggest you call your mechanic.
I have this issue on a BMW 94 model 318i sedan,
the fuel pump has blown (with little wonder it has done over 355,000Kms)
easily replaced
