There is an alternative that you might consider, which is to go to the local auto recyclers and get a used rear axle from wheel to wheel from a late model Expedition or Navigator and that will give you the stuff you need for disc brakes.
I have very poor stopping power on my 98 f150 w/rear drums also and I also wish to convert the rears to disc, but a parts store says that it wasn't available. If you have found any info that you could share, would you please share it with me? I saw nothing posted. Thanks, Gerald

You can change man. Its simple, Go and find out best disc and its full set and fit as it is fitted in the front. It may require a little lathe work too. But be cautious..
