You might want to find out if your fuel pump has loose electrical connection or that it might be working, but not putting out the proper fuel pressure. I had a friend with a similar problem. His fuel pump was putting out only 10 psi, instead of the 40 psi required for the fuel injection set up on his vehicle. If your pump is in the gas tank.
It should have a screen around the pick up. You could have debris (Rust ect) clogging it when it's pulling fuel, but then after a while it will fall away when there is no "pull" on the pump.

Do you have a engine management light on if so you need to find if theres a fault in the E.C.you system it maybe electrical like the idle control valve. Does it cut out when you get to the end of ia junction for example or when the revs are low does the engine surge? Let me know then I can help you further

My car is 10 years old and I have had it only for a year for the past 6 months its been cutting out more so these days then ever. It doesn't idelise well at all, sometime it doesn't even start and when it does it only because ive been putting gas on. However I have had a lot of things changed such as spark plugs etc and still it cuts out. Most of the time it is when I take my foot off the accelerator or when I am braking, but recently it is going when I am just driving 20mph, 40mph whenever it chooses. Any advice????

I had the same problem with my car.  It turned out to be a glitch in the computer that runs the car.  It would cut out on the freeway which was really scary and then I could not get it started.

I dare not say with certainty, but My car has done  that and I found out it was because my battery moved, and requires something to stabilize it. Hope it is not too serious for you. The unexpected stops were scary and dangerous.
