There is no place on the top of the 2005 chevy cobalt that has a dipstick for transmission fluid and there is nothing in the manual that has anything to do with transmission fluid. Where would the transmission be located underneath the 2005 chevy cobalt?
Usually a dipstick(top of the engine) with a red pop top (locking flip lever on top) to release it and pull the dip stick and wipe it off (make sure the vehicle is on level ground)with a clean rag then replace the dipstick into the tube all the way and then pull it out again to check the fluid level . The dipstick will have a set of markings on the end to tell you to add fluid if needed.if none is needed replace the dipstick and makes sure it is secure.if you need to add pour it into the tube where you removed the dipstick using a funnel placed into the top of the tube.usually it will be less than a half pint to top it off.if it is more you may need to have the car inspected for leaks or damage.hth
