It is all going to depend on the damage which has been done to the fuel pump. If you car begins to show signs of stopping, then it is going to be within your interests to ensure that you stop the car as soon as possible to assess the situation. It may just be a case of the fact that it has come lose and you need to refit it. Or that is has been damaged completely and you don't think that it is going to be safe to drive anymore.

The engine stops, thats it, nothing more. If you are very lucky you can bang on the bottom of the tank (where the fuel pump lives) and the pump may start up again for a little while.
