The line you are seeing is no more than a vent tube, and is to be put up and away from any moving parts or excessive heat. Good luck

I know on my 91 and 94 there is no vacuum hose on the housing there are vent hose that look like vac hoses they go up on the fram or higher so when you are in water it does get water in your housing
