Digit # 5 tells what engine you have
Yes, the vin will tell the type of engine, horsepower etc. See a dealer to get the info.
My block # is c7u209364. My vin # is ce148z168411. How do I tell what size my engine is? You said #5 says size but I have a straight 6. My #5 is 8
Usually next to the windshield(drivers side in the corner of the dash), copy the whole number down and contact the dealer and give them the number . Or you can go to the z net and give the engine size and maybe the prefix of your vin number to determine the pump you need ...o r if you have a auto parts store near you they can help you find the pump you need. Later
Digit #8 identifies the engine type...not #5
When taking an old motor out and putting in a new one do you have to get a new vin# to match new engine
You should be able to just tell a parts store the year, make, model, and engine size to get the pump. The engine size should be on the engine cover or on top of the intake manafold. If it is not then you should be able to tell them the digit for the motor off the vin. The eighth digit on the vin is the engine.
