Remove the upper and lower knuckle bolts to disconnect the axle from the a-arms.
Grab the axle in the center (between the CV joints) and give it a good tug to pull it out of the of the final drive (differential).  Be careful; if it won't come out and you yank too hard, you can pop the inner CV joint apart.  If it refuses to come out, try the other side...once you have one side out, you can drive the other side out using a large dowel or wooden close rod through the final drive.
