No, its not as good as a real repair. But considering the cost of a proper repair the liquid leak sealer is a real bargain and if it works thats great and if it does not work you have not (probably) made anything worse. So give it a try.
From what I have read the North Star engine (what you have?) sometimes does not do well in this area. The critical head bolt threads in the block often corrode and you have to have threaded inserts installed. Not a fun thing with the engine installed.
