No the water pump is on the front of the motor
Does The Water Pump On A 2.4 Engine Chevy Cavalier Have Anything To Do With The Timing Gears?
Actually thats what I am going through right now. And yes on a 2.4 the water pump it turned by the timing chain. The water pump will be located under the exhaust manifold. You have to take the cover off the timing chain housing and loosen the chain tensioner then take the pump out. Mine gets fixed tomorrow. I was going to do it til I found out the chain was involved.
Not that I have ever heard of. The only way the water pump has any effect on the rest of the engine is cooling the motor to prevent over heating and the damage that can happen through the engine over heating.
