I bought a new ignition switch along with cylinder, but it just won't go in. Ford F-250 1969
I have lost ignition key to 1988 150 ford pickup. How do I replace the switch which is on the steering column? Thanks rn
Make sure that you have extra cylinder retaining bolts and staring wheel retaining bolts as these bolts, once removes cannot be re-used. To replace and re install new ignition lock cylinders, it is important that you remove the old ignition lock cylinders, for which you will have to remove the steering wheel and the battery cable. Along with the ignition lock cylinder, you should also remove the brackets. You can do this with the help of a screw driver. The bracket bolts should be discarded.
To install, place the ignition cylinder on the steering column tube and place the new bolts in place and tighten them as to hold the switch in its position. Reposition the cylinder until you make sure that it is operating properly and then tighten the other retaining bolts. Place the steering column and tighten the bracket bolts and attach the wiring to the ignition switch.
