It is really not that hard at all. I have a 95 Ranger and did it myself just a few weeks ago. You have one belt that goes around several pully's that are attached to different things. One of them is the alternator. It is round and has a vented end to keep it cool because the things in it spin. On one of the pully's there is a place to hook a tool (you can get it at any auto zone type store. It is the serpintine release bar, cost about 20.00) and one end will fit in the pully and you pull it to one side, usually the left and this will make the belt loosen so it can be taken off. Make sure you remember exactly how it was. Draw a pic if you have too. Some vehicles have a map(scamatic) under the hood right by where the hood latch is. The alternator has 3 bolts that hold it on. Remove them and it is off. There are two plugs on there also. You can either take it to someone who rebuilds them, buy one already rebuilt or get one new from any parts store. It shouldn't cost any moer than 100.00 new, bout 60.0 to 80.00 rebuilt. When you go to put it back on it is easier to put the plugs back on 1st. Then the bolts. Then the belt last. Make sure the belt is all the way on all the pullys or it will get destroyed quickly. And that sux. It is really not that hard to do and if you are good with your hands at all, I recomend doing it yourself. Good luck.
