How Do You Replace A Lower Ball Joint On A Lincoln LS?

Disconnect upper b joint, I assume the lower b joint is , well, "disconnected"??....remove the caliper and wheel, disconnect sensor wire, and get to know a very good friend at any body shops...the b joint is dealer item only (new: At $1200.00 +)...
Find that friend, or junk the car...
