From what I've read on the internet in the past week, you have 2 choices, both of which are a big job. # one you drop the tank which I wanted no part of, or #two pull the box off the frame. I tried to loosen the bolts that hold the box on with no luck.  So I came up with a new and far easier way to do this job, I simply plotted exactly where the fuel pump was and cut a neat square out of the bed floor about 12 inches square and there it was, bing bong, bob's your uncle. Riveted a couple steel plates for back support and put the piece back in. A bit of silicone and bed liner back in, off to the races.

There are two ways to do this: Drop the tank or lift the bed.

The better way to do this is to lift the bed. You need to disconnect the fuel filler, disconnect a wiring harness for the tail lights and then remove the bolts (8?) that hold the bed to the frame.

Now you can either just lift the front end of the bed up or lift the entire bed off.

The advantage over dropping the tank is that this gives you good access to the installed tank/pump.

I too have opted for the cutting a hole and resealing it  then re-installing the bed liner. This is by far the easiest way to do this

You can pull the bed off and remove the pump from the top of the fuel tank or drop the fuel tank down and then remove the pump from the tank
