The Dodge Caravan is a minivan that has been in production continuously since 1984. It features a 4-speed automatic transmission on the newer models while some of the older models came equipped with a 3-speed automatic which has proven to be the more reliable of the two. If you have one of the newer 4-speed models of the Dodge Caravan, it is highly recommended that you use the best available transmission fluid to get the longest possible life out of your minivan's transmission. According to most professional shop manuals on Dodge Caravan maintenance, ATF plus 3 (Mopar 7176) should be used. You can also use a high grade synthetic transmission fluid such as Mobile, but be sure to check with the mechanic at your local dealership and get the latest recommendations just to be sure.

Synthetic motor oil and transmission fluid have been a significant improvement in car care technology and while they are significantly more expensive than conventional oils and fluids, they can coax more life and better performance from your vehicle. There are also more high-tech charcoal filters for engine and transmissions that when paired with a synthetic oil or fluid and kept at recommended levels at all times, will help to solve minor problems and prevent future breakdowns resulting in a longer life for your vehicle. This means more money in your pocket as you avoid costly repair bills and synthetics when used properly are also known for giving you extra mileage on every gallon of gas.

If you want to give your Dodge Caravan a longer and more productive life, use synthetic transmission fluid and a new filter whether you just got your minivan, or you've had it for a number of years. It will help to keep you safe on the road while saving you money.

I can't think of any reason why a Dodge CAravan would use anything different than any other car. Transmission Fluid is Transmission Fluid. Check with a Dodge dealer. I'm sure it's all the same.

No. No, no, no, no & no! These transmissions can only use the special Chrysler ATF+4! People using the wrong ATF in these transmissions is the major cause for these transmissions failing!
