Concerning a vehicle with an automatic transmission: is there a need for, or even is it possible to change the differential fluids?

Yes, differential fluids do need to be changed depending on your weather conditions. The oil in them can get water in it and it will damage the gears. There is usually a plug on the bottom of the differential to drain and another further up to fill. Check your manual or a parts store for the type of oil you need. It's usually 90 weight.

Thanks, I thought so; but am getting older and vehicles are changing so much, that I wasn't for sure; kind of like maintenance free vehicle batteries, and no Alemite grease fittings on vehicle tie rod ends and ball joints.
