The subject here is the quantity of solidity. The additional the oil (gas/air mix) is compressed, the hotter it gets. Common compression is 8:1, condition the engine compresses at 9:1 otherwise further you require extra constant fuel so it doesn't go rotten suitable to the heat of compression sooner than the plug up fires. The superior compression improves supremacy and good organization, but requirements gas that ignites at senior warmth.

In time past this might be complete by addition tetraethyl lead, and 10.5:1 compression was more ordinary. Inexpensive gas expenses not as much of to purify except cooks off at a poorer hotness/lower compression. One symbol that the gas isn't first-rate sufficient is a crackling noise throughout speeding up. That's the 'ping'. An additional is as soon as you twist the key off and the engine runs on, chuffing and chuffing.

The gas is unbalanced sufficient that compression in a sizzling engine is sufficient to fire, it doesn't require a flash. You won't become aware of this in an injected engine for the reason that the injectors close up off the gas. You might if it's carbureted.

Check the owners manual. The only reason to buy higher octane gas is to prevent engine knock. Save your money and buy the lowest octane gas recommended in the owners manual.

A higher octane doesn't make a "special treat" for your car like my dad always used to claim it did :)

Some luxury cars really need premium gas I think because it is required and also being instructed to use. And if not, maybe the car will not function well.

Not really and its advised to check your owners manual for exact octane rating , but if you can burn the higher octane fuels as it has better additives to help keep engine cleaner thus getting better gas mileage
