The best thing 2 do is go to auto zone or advanced auto or your nearest parts place and ask them for the book that troubleshoots fixing your car and they will sell it to you, it has all the descriptions of everything you need to know about how to fix a car and how 2 do this and how to do that and how to do what you want done, just give them the make and model of the car, and the year and then if you have anymore problems with that car and doing certain things the book can always be used as a back reference, it really is worth 20 bucks trust me, I'm a woman and I have one and it shows me lots of different things I normally wouldnt know anything about as far as my car is concerned, hope this helps and good luck sweety!
