I would have the oil pressure sensor checked. It sounds like it has gone bad and went to the topped out position and stuck there. A new oil pressure sensor should fix the problem. If not then the gauge itself has gone bad and it will need replaced. Much more expensive than replacing the sensor. It could also be a short somewhere in the system. I would change the sensor to test and see if that fixes the problem as it is an easy job.
