If you have a 1998 528, I can help.  I just changed mine.  The ONLY thing that can make or break the repair is if you have small hands or a good friend with small hands to help.

Remove the oil filter and lid with it.
Disconnect the banjo fitting for the Vanos servo and swing to the side.
Disconnect the Vanos servo connection.
Unscrew the Vanos servo and remove it.
Disconnect the valve cover breather tube.
Remove the allen head bolt holding the CPS in place.
Cram your hand deep beneath the intake, and locate the connector mounted in the center of the engine, on a metal bracket.  The CPS connector will slide out of the bracket.
Disconnect the CPS.  (this may be tricky)
Connect the new CPS and get the connection back into the bracket
Replace the CPS into the head
Replace the allen head bolt
Replace the Vanos servo
Reconnect the Vanos servo
Reconnect the valve cover breather
Reconnect the banjo fitting for the Vanos servo
Replace the oil filter and cover
DONE in 20 mins.

If you can't fit your hands under the intake, you will have to remove the entire intake manifold to get in there.
