I have a 1984 Honda shadow vt700c with a hydraulic clutch that slips when it gets hot, so badly it will not even move. Just replaced the friction discs & plates, no help. I think the slave cylinder is not allowing backing out for enough to let the clutch engage, is this possible?

I had a similar problem which turned out to be a plugged weep hole in the resrvoir on the handlebar. As the clutch fluid expands in the slave cylinder during engine heating, it cannot expand back into the reservoir and takes out the freeplay at the slave cylinder and causes the slipping. I poked a needle through the varnish buildup under the tin wafer at the bottom of the reservoir and have had no problems since.
Hope this helps

What kind of oil do you use? If you use car oil, stop it. If you use motorcycle oil, then I recommend changing the clutch plates and springs.

Yes, you can tighten it with the help of some tool. You should open the clutch box and pull the wire which is used to pull the clutch then your clutch would be tight a bit.
