Torque is defined as a (any) force that is required to rotate, move or twist an object. Sir Isaac Newton described a phenomenon which says about the states of an object – that is, an object remains at its static position until and unless an external force is applied onto it.
Mathematically, torque can be described as follows:
Torque = Amount of force being exerted on the object X Object's rotation point to the location where the force is being applied
Seesaws are examples of torque, which work following the mechanism of torque. In the case of seesaw, we can see that if a weighty person is sitting close to the pivot point, one much less weighty person can lift up by sitting at the other end. By sitting closer to the pivot point actually makes the arm smaller, which eventually produces a smaller torque, though exerting heavier force. On the other hand, the less weighty individual may exert much larger torque by sitting at the other end by means of larger arm.
