Whoever financed your car holds the legal title to the vehicle. (check name of legal owner on registration). They are the ones who have the dealer install the passtime device. If you don't get the passtime device back to the dealer, the lender won't send you the pink slip so you can transfer legal ownership to you, and you can't sell the car to anyone else. Make sure you get a receipt for the passtime device from the dealer.
