The most common causes are leaks from radiator hoses or a leaking water pump.  It could also be a decaying radiator core that's corroded through.  If it's a hose, and you have some mechanical ability, you may be able to fix it yourself.  Remove the hose, and take it to an auto parts shop for a replacement.  You may want to replace the whole set if they're the same age.  Otherwise, have a mechanic look at it before you overheat and warp your heads (which is big $$$ to fix).  Good Luck.

This happened to my car and it was a cracked water outlet housing part. Cost 5 or 6quid from a scrap yard. But car leaking again. Have 2 fill it every week now. Its an audi a3 1998. Causes me so much stress. Also slow to start now cold mornings have set in but I hold clutch in and it eventually starts. Was advised I may need new sparks plugs but had new spark leads and plugs put on this time last year.

Kinda should learn to look after it more, but its like everything, can't find time
