In most cars removing the positive cable from the battery will reset the codes, and if it comes back on later then the problem wasn't fixed. Hope this helps.

Removing the battery cable on a Range Rover to reset the fault codes is a bad idea. It will typically set your vehicle into hard lock mode and if you're able to recover from that yourself you're going to have to reset your windows and sunroof and radio (so have your codes handy or you'll be calling the dealership for help). I best suggestion I can give is to buy yourself an OBDII code reader. I bought mine from Walmart for about $90.00, that's between $20-200.00 less than most dealerships who work with Land Rovers will charge you just to reset the codes and now you own something that can read "some" of the codes and reset "most" of the codes. Very important here, make sure you write down or save any error codes you might have and identify and fix them if you reset the faults or you might end up causing more damage than it's worth.
