It's usually considered to be child neglect or abuse, next time you see this, call the police, as the child is really in danger.

In the summer time I could understand the concern partly but if you're leaving the car on either the AC on or the heat. I'm sorry but this is where people need to mind their own business. Do you know what the person went in for or how long they were gone? How do you not know that she went in for diapers and the baby just feel asleep? You don't. You're making a judgment about some one based on YOUR values and morals. Let's not forget that not every one shares you opinion. Every one has their own opinions and can raise their children however they want. By calling the cops you are involving yourself in something that doesn’t concern you. And no it is not illegal to leave a child in the car for a few minutes.
Yes most of our “Wal-mart” trips are not quick but you don’t know that person and just because you do something doesn’t mean they do.

My thought…mind your own business….it makes for a better world. If that person made a habit of leaving their child alone then sooner or later they would learn the hard way by some one kidnapping the child. But that’s for them not you.

What?! You should have definitely called the police, no matter what state you are in that is child neglection, it is very illegal to leave a child under the age of 13 in a car by themselves.

The circumstances you describe definitely sound like neglect and should have been reported I believe it is probably ok to leave your child in a locked car for a moment say at the convenience store or gas station where it is really only a brief absence but we all know wal mart is never a quick in and out experience
