If your air conditioning unit is blowing air but not cool air, it could be due to a number of reasons. Your condenser could be dirty or blocked, the evaporator coils should be cleaned regularly as if they are not there may be inadequate air flow around the condenser. You should clean your air conditioning unit on a relatively warm day, and always remember to turn the power off before doing so. The filters should also be cleaned on a regular basis, and will usually produce instant results if there is a problem with your unit. Another reason could be that the controller has not been correctly used. If this is the case, you should check the controller as HVAC systems have different settings for cooling and heating and if the wrong setting is used, the system will not work. Consult your operation manual for further help on this. Another important element to your unit, and perhaps the most important one, is the compressor. If the compressor fails, the whole system will fail, so it is important to make sure that this is running correctly. Check around the compressor for any signs of damage or wear and tear. Examine the compressor looking for any build up of ice and listen for any irregular noises. If you find any of these things, you should contact an air conditioning specialist to professionally inspect the system and determine the problem. Your manual should have contact details of the manufacturer customer support or helpline. A final solution, and one which is perhaps the most obvious and tends to be associated with IT and electrical problems, is to reset the power on the unit. Keep it turned off for a few minutes and turn back on again. If the problem hasn’t been identified and rectified after attempting all of these steps, contact your manufacturer or a specialist.
If this is a window unit, clean your filter. With the filter out, check to see if the evaporator coil is dirty.if so clean it. If the inside is OK, look outside. Is the condenser coil dirty from pollen etc.. Is there anything like leaves ,plastic wrap or anything covering the cond. Coil. If that's OK then you may have a leak. Cheaper to buy a new window unit. Also, check to see if you have the door open to the outside if you were to have it in fan mode.
if this is a unit that has an A- COIL on the furnace and outdoor condenser check for pretty much the same thing. Check your filter. If it dirty, replace it. If the filter is missing and you don't know how long its bewen missing or has been sucked against the blower I suggest you call an hvac co. Because the A-COIL may be clogged with pet hair, dust etc. This cleaning is not for joe homeowner. Check outside to see if the condenser is dirty or clogged with leaves, garbage or the cover you put on it for the winter that you forgot to take off. Make sure your return ducts aren't covered by rugs, furniture and are open. Make sure your supply ducts are open and unobstructed. Look for oil spots on the a/c lines from the a-coil to the condenser. This may indicate a small leak and this will need repair and a charge. Set your t-stat for 72 in the cool and auto mode. Putting the t-stat in the on position will cause the blower to run recirculating the air in the hours only. Try those things a see what you find.

My AC is not cooling down stairs but upstairs it cool.
When the temp is high my a.c starts tripping after some time . For eg. Room temp when we starts the ac is 37 it goes down till 28 or 27 and trip & again starts when the temp reaches 34 or 35 this problem occurs when the temp outside is high & in nights it functions properly as the temp as compare to day is low
My central a/c is not working. I hire a professional to check. At first he said it is just a dirty filter. But then he went outside and he is telling me that it is the freon and that it will cost me $700 to fix it! First he said it would cost me the filter and then he sees me that I don't know anything about it and suddently it is the freon? How can I tell
Check to see if it's in the right setting. Sometimes, the button can be on exhaust which makes the AC work like a fan. If that doesn't help, you need to bring it to a repair store, perhaps they need to replenish the coolant.
