How Do I Put New Tires On My Rims?

The best way is to take them to a shop that has the correct  tools that are precision made to fit the tires to the riims in order not to damage the rim or tire. Around here they will do it for 3-4 dollars a wheel with new valve stems and then a small fee to spin balance them. You can usually save money if you already have the wheels off the vehicle and put them back on yourself after they are balanced. The last time I did it for my truck I think I paid 25-30 dollars for all four wheels. You can put them on yourself if you have the right tool spoons and  a heavy rubber mallet and a bottle of warm water with some dish washing soap mixed in.basically you just work the tire onto the rim until the first bead drops and the second/outside bead of the tire is sitting on top of the rim. Then you start working the bead of the tire onto the rim with the spoons(a long handled 1/2' steel rod with a formed double lip spoon on the end for working the tire onto the rim) as you start working the tire on the rim you put some of the soapy water on the tire where it meets the rim and while applying pressure with the spoons you hit the tire just behind the bead to work the bead past the edge of the rim . As you work your way around the rim you will see a point at which you have to remove the spoons and give the tire a few last good hits with the mallet and the tire should pop over the edge of the rim . Now once you have the tire on the rime you have to fills the tire with air. This is where some more of the soapy water comes in. While you lift up on the tire to help make a seal between the rim and the bead of the tire you add the air (usually from a air compressor). Put some more of the soapy water around the bead before lifting the tire and filling it with air this will help make  the seal between the rubber and the metal of the rim.fill it with air until you hear a pop this will be the beads of the tire seating itself around the lip of the rim. Now stop adding air and check the tire pressure with a gauge unless you have one on your  compressor. Fill the tire to the pressure shown on the tire next to the lip of the bead. After this is done you can then take it to have them spin balanced. Then you can put them back on your vehicle. The last time I did my own tires by hand it took me about 30 minutes a wheel and I was beat down dog tired afterwards. But it was still fun to do it the old way. Now if your going to have to remove your old tires that is another process and you will need a tire breaking tool to break the bead loose from the rim and work the tire off the rim. And this is not fun at all. Just my opinion.

Go to a tire shop or a garage where they work with tires. If you are not experienced in fitting and balancing them yourself, I would not suggest it
