I am assuming that you have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 1997 or 1998, with the stock tire size 225/70R16. As per 1010tires.com tire calculator, "Warning! When changing tire sizes, we recommend staying within 3% of the diameter of the original tire. Any more than this and you face the risk of brake failure." I would not recommend not installing 245/70R16 tires, but 235/70R16 tires. As you can see from the chart above, the difference is too great for 245/70R16 tires, but the 235/70R16 tires are within recommended ranges. These figures are true for all Jeeps with similar sized tires. {I have 4 Jeeps (90 Cherokee, & 97, 98, 99 Grand Cherokees) at home and just bought a 5th (99 Grand Cherokee) for my college age daughter. All Jeeps have over 150,000 miles & still run great: Best 4X4 SUV hands down!}
