What Does It Mean If My Check Engine Light Keeps Blinking On/off And The Engine Is Shaking?

Check engine lights can come on in two different ways:

Constant on. This means something has been detected by your cars computers that is a problem but will not effect your car significantly.

Blinking. A blinking check engine light means that something SERIOUSLY WRONG has been detected by your cars computer. If you keep driving REALLY BAD THINGS will happen to your engine.
