A couple of times over the years but not too recently. But almost every week when I go to the clinic, someone almost backs into my car or me ! I think those cameras need bigger screens. But I've seen that some have Alert noises when something or someone is behind you !

I've had a couple close calls but have never been backed into. My wife's Edge has back up sensors that beeps faster the closer you get and works pretty good, but when I'm in one of my trucks, I use the rear and side view mirrors.

I haven't, but my friend recently got a nice new car (a BMW) and I've noticed that he no longer seems to be looking out the back when he backs up, because his eyes are focused only on the camera. So I've been looking for him because I don't want to hit something -_-

When I was competing in triathlon during the 1980s I clocked up many thousands on kilometres on the road, often in heavy traffic, and I was hit several times by cars. Given the IQ of many motorists I was lucky it didn't happen more often.

I learned one valuable lesson. It doesn't matter who's right and who's wrong, if you're on a bike you're responsible for your own safety. You can be as aggressive as you like but you still need to keep in mind that in any contest between car and bike, the car will win.

Of course, there were one or two amusing times when things didn't quite work out like that, but that's a story for another day. :)

I don't know about all vehicle camera systems ... But mine reminds me to check my surroundings before backing up.  I only use it after I've checked, and to gauge the distance when I'm backing INTO a tight spot.

I don't care if they put ten million backup cameras on cars! Unless you are in a big rig you look in the direction you are moving!!

Poeple in cars do not respect big rigs whatsoever i rode with a relative who was a driver. I swear people must want to die. Big rigs do not stop on a dime

If we would quit catering to the laziness in people, we would be much better off! I can understand how this feature would *help* but it shouldn't take the place of good old-fashioned common sense. I guess physically looking would take too much time!  I'm so afraid I'm going to hit a pedestrian or someone on a bike (an actual bike or motorcycle), that I look several times just to be sure!
