Whilst there is clearly a benefit to using premium fuels over regular, there seems to be little difference between brands. The main benefit of premium fuels is that they are less combustible as they have a higher percentage of octane and less heptane. This applies to all premium gasolines available, and there is not one that stands out over another.
Some brands advertise extra features such as Shell, whose V-Power Nitro+ is specifically designed to fight engine deposits which can lead to a reduction inperformance, and is apparently Ferrari's choice for improved performance, which gives it extra kudos in the market.
Another thing to consider is that research has shown that unless you have a premium, powerful car, the benefits of using premium fuel in a “regular”engine are negligible, and so it is worthwhile checking which type of fuel the car manufacturer recommends.
