There does not appear to be one specific answer to this question. Unless you have been told some other information or have being doing about a specific type of maths at school which would give you some additional knowledge, then there are many answers to this question.

  • Possible answers
For example, by using the below sum there could be 3 bikes:

57 X 4 = 228 (57 4 wheeler wagons X 4 which is the number of wheels)

3 X 2 = 6 (3 bicycles X 4 which is the number of wheels on the bike)

228 + 6 = 234 (add the two answers together to get the number of wheels all together)

However using the following sum, there could be 53 bicycles:

53 x 2 = 106 (53 bicycles X 2 which is the number of wheels)

32 x 4 = 128 (32 4 wheeler wagons X 4 which is the number of wheels)

128 + 106 = 234 (add the two answers together to get the number of wheels)

So as you can see there are at least two answers that could be feasible given the question you asked. If however, you have some additional information then there may be a more specific answer.

Although maths, and equations in particular, can seem rather confusing, it is always best to take time to break each stage down. You will find this makes it a lot clearer and not seem quite so complex and baffling.
