Here is the diagram that you have been looking for: autorepair.about.com/library/firing_orders/bl-fo-5373.htm
This gives you a precise example of how to wire it up without any problems and should solve your query, as it shows the order in which to make the firing order for the Chevy S10 4.3l engine.

The firing order is the sequence of power delivery in the different cylinder in a multi-cylinder reciprocating engine. It is achieved by the sparking of the spark plugs in the engine in the correct order or through using the sequence of fuel infection within a diesel engine. If you are designing an engine you need to choose an appropriate firing order to achieve smooth results; using a heavily influenced crankshaft design will help you to do this.

The order in which you need to complete this starting order is that for the 4.3L engine the firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2 and this rotates clockwise. Firstly 1 is on the first left, 2 first right, 3 second left, 4 second right, 5 third left, 6 third right and that s from front to back.

This transpires as the driver side motor from front back is 1, 3, 5 and the passenger side motor from front to back is 2, 4, 6.

I really need to know the year of the engine but lets start by saying it's a 87 or earlier model number 1 spark plug on the distributor point's to number 2 plug that is the plug closest to the front of the vehicle on the passenger's side  now the firing order for this model is "1-6-5-4-3-2"     now lets say the vehicle is an 88 or later the firing order is the same as the older models but number 1 plug on the distributor points to number 1 cylinder that is the plug closest to the front of the vehicle on the driver side I hope this helps out if you need more advice feel free to email me at [email protected]

If your car is back firing take a look of your fuel pump we have a mechanic shop an I been dealing with this problem lately... A good way to make sure of the problem is with starting fluid put a good beat of it in your truck if it crank check fuel filter and pump then your injectors

The firing order on your engine is as follows 1,6,5,4,3,2. That simple. However the other thing you need to watch for is that you get #1 in the correct spot on the distributor and that it is wired in the correct direction going right with the turn of the rotor inside the cap. If you still can't get it feel free to call me I'll talk you thru it. My name is Jim and my cell # is 720-281-7741.Hope this helps.

On most all engines the firing orders are on the top of the intake manifolds just in front or just behind the carb. 4.3L's are 6,1,2,3,4,5. If it is a V-8, it is - 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2. Make sure you check the rotation of the distributor first.
