I have a snuff tin as discribed,I've had this tin for 35yrs and the gentleman that I got it from was 85 yrs old at that time,He was a merchant marine and traveled the world,It is Solid Brass (2 1/2" in Daia..)At the top the words (CAPTAIN'S OFFICE) with (CAPTAIN'S above OFFICE) In the middle( 3 diamonds on a stick in a fan shape) at the bottom ( SS TITANIC) with SS over TITANIC) no other markings) I do know that this Snuff tin is water tight,I put it in a five gallon bucket of water with a brick on top and left it for a month and a half and when I took the brick off it came right to the top.I would like to find out if there is anyway I can verify,I welcome your oppinion and suggestions on this subject.Looking foward to your responce,Thank You for your time,(DennisB
Does your tin have any markings on the back center eg a signature.
I have brass container as above, 4" in brass, maroon velvet inside. Inside is 3" container also in brass with same liner. I purchased in 70's from antique store. I don't believe it could be snuff container because of the velvet. (I am former snuff salesman) I am also curious.
My father has the exact same tin. I don't know anything about it
I have something that sounds similar to that but it looks like a keyring it is an arched rectangle with a small hole at top centre it has a swirl vine design in middle with captains office above and ss titanic below
Isaw one in mickey dees this morning dave had it showed it to morris bobtom and john
