The type of surface is defined as smooth or rough generally. The smooth surface has little less friction while the rough surface has greater friction. No surface is without friction. When the wheels of the toy car rotate on the surface there is an opposing force acting between the wheels and the surface called frictional force. This force determines how much a toy car will travel on a particular surface.

Well, if your using plastic and sandpaper of course the toy car would roll down the plastic the fastest because th type of surface is smoother then the hard sandpaper texture :) make sure both cars are at the same distance as each other yw (your welcome) bye

The rougher the surface, the car won't travel as far as it would by driving on a smooth surface...

It would affect the distance because a smooth surface has less friction than a rough srface.
