What Was The Purpose For Building The Chrysler Building?

Well I would guess that it was built to be a representation of the company at the time to show they were both powerful and none could match their design/production of automobiles. To be their business headquarters to be showed off a  show place of the city.as I have just read they were in competition for being the tallest building in the city at the time.but was only for 11 months after it was finished. In other words it was in a competition to keep up with the jones'. To be the top auto maker and have the biggest best designed building in the area.  A piece of artwork(architecture) for the ages.a over priced over designed building to show off the big money/profits of the business. Or what I would call the health of the company.
