Loose timing belt can result in poor running and
loss of power, while a broken timing belt can cause your valves to crash
into your pistons.Timing belts fail without warning so it is better to change it at the recommended intervals. I have changed my timing belt at 40,000.The mechanic was recommending me to change it after 10,000 miles more, means total 50,000.
It is a requirement to keep the warranty in effect and you must change it from a licensed workshop. If Hyundai says 24,000 then you have to change it to keep the warranty.
Timing belt replacement is expensive but to keep the warranty in effect you should change it from authorized workshop.
