The v1 would be the power wires in your junction box. There is a black, white, and a bare ground. If you have a red wire it is extra or it use to be used in a three way switch at one time. Run your neutral straight to your light, run the black wire to one side of your switch and run a black wire from the other side of your switch to your light.
