No, you only need a passport to enter Canada if you are traveling by air. Those traveling by car, boat, or rail don't need a passport. I've been on hold with the national passport agency every day multiple times a day for the past week and listened to that stinking automated msg explaining that so many times I think I have it memorized.

Yes you need have one, no matter how you try to get in.

Actually, they don't require a passport when you are going to Canada from the USA by car. They just want two forms of ID

As of June 1 2009 you need a passport but they are lenient for a while yet

Whether you arrive by ship, plane, car, etc. You will need a passport to enter Canada.
