Is it ok to ride my bike without a helmet around my neighbourhood (not too many cars and no major intersections)?

I thought the same as you one day until I took a turn too fast by accident. I scraped up the entire left side of my body. My helmet had a large dent in the left side with good sized scratches. I was a bloody mess and couldn't bend my leg for nearly three weeks. I'd hate to see what my head would have looked like without my helmet. Case and Point, wear your helmet!!

Absolutely OK---or at least until your skull makes contact with the curb.

After that, you may have to wait for the prognosis---if you ever wake up that is.

No problem at all.  But be sure to carry your organ donor card with you.  Often speed is of the essence in harvesting..

Anytime I went flying off my bike there was never a car around. Thankfully I never hit my head but I have had my hands shredded when I used them to break my fall. So wear your helmet!
