Anyone have any good ideas on how to keep ducks out of my pool? They're nice and all but I have to clean out the crap afterwards all the time!

invest in a "guard coyote?" lol, maybe put a couple of floats in your pool to scare them off, like an alligator one or something

I tried a big owl statue with glowing eyes and that worked for a while and also different floats but they keep coming back ! My tough guy dog doesn't even bother with them ! LOL

You could sell them and buy a different breed of ducks. I used to own a type of duck called Indian-Runners and they hated swimming. They have weird bodies that makes it difficult for them to swim in deep water so they often avoid pools.

You could do like the oil sands plants do. Around their tailing ponds they set off explosions at intervals to scare the birds away. LOL

Seriously, record a shotgun being fired, and set up a motion sensor aimed at your pool, which would play the shotgun on a large speaker. That will scare them away.  True there is very little open water in California, so that would be cruel to the poor ducks. A robot pool cleaner that runs across the bottom all the time?

I have a sweep that runs through the pool every early morning. Can't figure out when they are coming in ! Thank you.

Don't forget to turn the motion sensor off before you go for a swim. :)

I used to have the same problem in Pennsylvania.  Don't they make pool alarms?  They are supposed to alert parents that a child has fallen in.  I'm sure ducks have parents too, so it should work.
