NASCAR is known for its long-standing association with the Goodyear brand of tyres. In the year 2004, Goodyear was very successful in launching its new line of higher-grip construction or compound tyres. These high-grip construction tyres or compound tyres were used for NASCAR's Nextel Cup race, the Busch race and the Craftsman truck series race.

These new tyres were developed at the same time as NASCAR announced that it would make a number of aerodynamic changes to the cars. The year 2004 marked the 50th year of Goodyear's association with NASCAR racing.

Goodyear is also known for its association with the Wrangler light truck brand and has also launched several lines of tyres for sports utility vehicles (which are abbreviated as SUV) and has linked its marketing activities which are associated with these lines of tyres with NASCAR racing. The year 2005 marked the silver jubilee year of the Goodyear Eagle brand of tyres.

NASCAR's top three divisions all use Goodyear Racing Tires. (not tyres, as that sounds extremely anti-NASCAR). The tires vary from one race track to another depending upon the speed attained at the track and the texture and finish of the track.

They use Goodyear, but they used Hoosier with the drivers that wanted to use them, but they were more dangerous, so they stayed with Goodyear.
