Hi, there are three casting numbers you will need to identify the engine. The casting date and the casting vin. Theses two numbers are placed on the back side of the engine just above where the bell-housing is. The other numbers are placed on the passenger side front right in Front of the head. You may have to move alternator to see these numbers. They will look something like this. V0322CHC

Now the other numbers you need like the casting date should look something like this C028.
The block vin should be about 7 to 9 numbers long with no letters in it. After you get these numbers goto mortec.com and look them up. Hope this helps.
