Honestly... Not a whole lot- the northstar is a sleeved-piston motor, meaning it's always going to burn SOME oil and it's not perfect, but a great design that makes allota power- the only real safe things you can do before you need to heavily modify and add allota cash to get MAYBE 20hp is a 1. K&N filter in the air box, don't try to slap on a "cone" air filter, thats all hype... It just makes your intake sound louder and accually messes w/ your fuel economy for nothing 2. Free up your exhaust.... However you want.... If you have a car w/ a northstar it's probably duals which is some money... And- 3.ENGINE CHIP!!! Another dumb ricer thing to get power and workin as a GM technition you'lll probably get laughed at as your paying three times the amount of the chip to clear out your -check engine light- BOTTOM LINE- if you drive a car with a northstar and your not happy with it... Buy a faster car- lastly have you seen your engine compartment recently? anyone telling you that you can do all these *special* things like turbo/supercharger.... Etc- think of the labor..... Thats allota motor in a smalllllll engine compartment..... Put more gas in the tank and give it hell ^-^ Just my opinon man hear what you want
