My cd player did the same thing. All sound cut out on cd,radio everything and all you cud hear was bass pounding away to each song. I turned it off due to smoke after a few minutes of trying to get sound back started pouring out the top and out of the disk entry. The disk smelt of burnt plastic.
I'm currently stripping it down and checking all of the cables. Wen I find out what it exactly was ill post. But until then I'm going to go with a dodgy wiring. I say TURN IT OFF and leave it off lol
