There are a couple of steps that need to be followed to successfully remove a battery from a 2007 Chevy Equinox. The most obvious one is to switch the ignition completely off and remove the keys.

With the ignition off you have to locate the battery and disconnect both the positive and negative leads. With the leads disconnected you can lift the battery out and either recharge or replace it.

  • Importance of the battery
The battery in a Chevy Equinox is effectively the heart of the engine- without the power circulating from the battery the other parts of the engine are unable to function. The battery also services other functions through the car such as air conditioning, lighting, audio system, windscreen wipers and opening and closing the windows.

Leaving an audio system on is one of the main ways that batteries are run down, many audio systems will switch themselves off after an hour if they are being played independently without the engine running.

  • Recharging your battery
Simply connect the positive and negative clips on the battery to the recharger and your battery will be recharged. Ensure that the battery is entirely on its own and not connected to anything else.

Twenty minutes to half an hour is required to charge up most batteries, once you have charged it up to your satisfaction you need to replace the battery in the engine and connect up the negative and positive leads.
  • Battery replacement
If you are replacing the battery, it is simply a case of ensuring that you have got the right type of battery; place it in the engine and connect up the correct leads and the battery will fit into place.

The battery is located under the cover immediately behind the Head lamp assembly <DRIVER side> remove the three screws that secure the cover and push the 4 tabs on the heat sink looking with the cords running from it. (I have no idea what this is does)you can now remove this larger cover to reveal the battery the tighest space I have ever seen in a GM.
