The fuel filter on the 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan is mounted at the top of fuel tank close to the left rear wheel well with 1 bolt. The fuel filter on any vehicle helps to keep the car running and is a filter which is placed in the fuel line to separate the fuel from the grime and rust particles which are found in most internal combustion engines, and are usually formed into cartridges which contain a filter paper to divide the fuel from the other matter inside the fuel system. In order to keep the Dodge Caravan’s fuel system running efficiently and smoothly, it is necessary to change the fuel filter an estimate of every 12,000 to 20,000 miles to make sure the fuel filter is working to its greatest capacity, and is not harming the overall comfort and security of the driver. The bulk of the fuel system is located around the rear left wheel well on the Caravan, which includes the fuel tank, pump assembly and fuel filter. You need to lift up the van on the rear side and slightly lower the fuel tank to reach and remove the fuel filter. To change the fuel filter you must first ensure that all the pressure within the fuel system is released - this is achieved by opening the cap and starting the engine and removing the fuel pump relay from the fuse box, finally turning off the ignition and disconnecting the negative battery cable. Then to locate the fuel tank near the left rear wheel well and removing the strap bolts on the fuel tank, slightly lowering it, without removing it completely in order to reach the fuel filter. You would then, after disconnecting the filter, remove the fuel filter by detaching the bolt which mounts it on the fuel tank.

On the '03 3.3L Caravan, the fuel filter is mounted with 1 bolt at the top(right) of fuel tank. The replacement has 3 plastic permanently mounted hoses on it, 2 of which attach to nipples at the top(outlet) of tank. The connectors are the plastic snap over type.I had to loosen/lower the right side tank straps to have room to remove/reinstall hoses. The rear wheels must be on jackstands,or ramps.

Is there any drawing of where the Fuel Filter is located. Also, is it the fuel pump. The Caravan starts fine, but as soon as it heats up it just stops. Once cooled down again it starts and you can go a few blocks. Would it be the 02 sensor or the gas filter. Engine light came on, but is now off
